#PRTWorldSBK: Positive start into Portugal round

On Friday, Sandro Cortese got off to a better start at the third stop of the Superbike World Championship than he did at the season’s restart a week ago in Jerez.

Sandro Cortese obviously feels extremely comfortable at the demanding circuit not far from Portimao. On day one of practice, the 29-year-old rider from Germany’s Berkheim and his Italian Pedercini Racing Team immediately began preparations for the races on Saturday and Sunday. A race simulation makes Cortese confident for the remaining weekend. However, a harmless fall during the second free practice session of the day did nothing to dampen the good mood.

#11 Sandro CORTESE (OUTDO Kawasaki Racing, Kawasaki ZX-10RR), FP1: P14 - 1´43.867 / FP2: P17 - 1´44.251:

"The weekend has started very positively. FP1 was a good start right away. In this session we also did a race simulation, which brought particularly good results. Our pace was at a constantly high level. However, a low-sider in the afternoon threw us a bit off track. It was absolutely nothing bad, but we lost valuable track time. Afterwards we had a hard time to get back to the performance of before. Nevertheless, I am confident that tomorrow we will be able to take another step forward. We have tried many different things and therefore we know which direction we have to go in the end to make it work better again. In any case, it's incredibly fun to ride at this demanding track."
